Application & Fees

How do I register for the 10. PKO Poznań Half Marathon?

To register for the 10. PKO Poznań Half Marathon, fill in the registration form on our website. You can also register in person in the Marathon Office located in Poznań Sports and Recreation Centres (Head Office building) at 34 Chwiałkowskiego Street in Poznań, open Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00. Be aware that the cash register is open until 15:00.

What is a deadline for applications?

Deadline for applications is 15 March 2017 unless we reach the limit of paid registrations which is 16 000 people.

How much is the registration fee?

Registration fee is 90 PLN.

Registration fee for “Poznańska Karta Rodziny Dużej” card owners is 67,50 PLN.

Who may participate in the race free of charge?

The following contestants have a right to participate in the half marathon for free (under the condition they register by 15 March 2017):

  • a) contestants who were on the I, II and III place in age classifications in the 9. PKO Poznań Half Marathon; it is possible to transfer the right to participate in the half marathon free of charge to another person,
  • b) contestants who completed all 9 editions of the half marathon in Poznań (Poznań Half Marathon),
  • c) contestants taking part in the half marathon based on another agreements between Poznań Sports and Recreation Centres and their partners,
  • d) contestants who get permission to run free of charge from the Director of Poznań Sports and Recreation Centers (individual cases) upon written request validated with appropriate documents,
  • e) winners of the competitions organized by the Organizer
  • f) pacemakers,
  • g) elite (runners with bib numbers 1-100),
  • h) guests invited by Poznań Sport and Recreation Centres Director.

May I register today and pay the registration fee later on?

Yes, you can. Once you register, you have automatically created personal online account on the Half Marathon website, active for 7 days. Within this time you can pay the registration fee after logging into your account. After 7 days the account deactivates. To reactivate it, you have go log into the account and go to section “Payment”. Once you do so, you’ll be able to pay the registration fee on the condition that the limit of paid applications had not been reached. If your account doesn’t reactive when you click on “Payment” section, it means that the limit of 16 000 applications have been paid for and you can’t pay your registration fee any more which means you can’t participate in the Half Marathon.

What to do when I encounter problems with my payment transaction?

If the error appears at the end of an online fund transfer transaction (for example, when you give a wrong credit card number) you can repeat the transaction using the payment order form in “Payment” section.

Sometimes an error indicates no bank system response. This happens when bank system undergoes repairs at late night hours, and at this time no banking service is available. In such case your transaction order is on hold and money is transferred as soon as the bank system works again. If the money is not withdrawn from your bank account within 48h since you make the money transfer order, please contact the aquirer: PayU.

How can I check my bib number?

Computer system assigns the next free start number to you after getting the confirmation on paid registration fee from the bank. When that happens, the computer system sends you automatically an email with information on your bib number.

You can always check your bib number on the Competitors List on our website. If there is a bib number next to your name, it means we have received your payment. You can also check your bib number in your online account on our website.

Will I get my registration fee back if I resign from participation in the Half Marathon?

No, you won’t. According to the Half Marathon Official Regulations, registration fee is non-refundable. Although you can transfer your bib number to another participant by 15 March 2017 the latest. You can do it by filling in the online form in your online account.

What should I do if there is no my name on the Competitors List?

If you paid the registration fee and don’t see your name on the Competitios List, double check your name for typos in the search window. If it’s written correctly, go to your online account and check the information you had given. You can amend the information if you find a mistake there by 15 March 2017. If you still don’t find your name on the Competitors List after doing all that, inform the Half Marathon Office about the problem.

What should I do if I paid the registration fee and there is still no my name on the Competitors List?

When your name doesn’t appear on the Competitors List after you had paid the registration fee, inform the Half Marathon Office about it.

Is it necessary to give my email address?

Your e-mail address is essential to register you for the Half Marathon and create your personal account. We send a registration confirmation, logins for your account and confirmation on your bib number transfer (if you do so) to your email address. As the Organizer, we assure you that your email address won’t be used in order to send you promotional material nor will be given to any other parties.

Are the runners participating in the Half Marathon for the first time exempted from the registration fee?

No, they are not.

Do I pay extra fee for time measurement?

No, you don’t. The fee is included in the registration fee. Chip is reusable and must be returned. Chip returns point will be located in the finish zone.

Is there a limit of applications?

Yes, there is. The limit of paid applications is 16 000. Once the limit is reached, we don’t accept any new applications.

Where do I pick up my start package and what are the opening hours?

Pick up your start package on 24 and 25 March 2017 in the Half Marathon Office located at the Poznań International Fair, ul. Głogowska 14.

The Half Marathon Office is open during the following hours:

24.03.2017 (Friday) 10:00 – 20:00
25.03.2017 (Saturday) 10:00 – 20:00

On the day of the race (Sunday) the Half Marathon Office is closed and you cannot pick up your start package.

Can I pick up my start package on the day of the Half Marathon?

No, you cannot. On the day of the run the Half Marathon Office is closed. If you don’t live in Poznań, you should come a day before the race to pick up the start package. We can accommodate you the night before the race at the sports halls and give you a lift from the sports hall to the start zone on the day of the race.

What do I have to take with me to pick up my start package?

You have to have with you a signed start card or ID.

How do I get my start card?

You can find your start card in your personal online account after having paid the registration fee. The card can be printed off since 15 March 2017 12.00 p.m.

Can I pick up my start package if I lost my start card?

Yes, you can. You can collect your start package upon presenting your ID.

What should I do if I cannot pick up my start package personally?

Sign your start card and give it to the person who collects the start package on behalf of you.

What does the start package consist of?

The start package consists of a bib number, a chip for time measuring, a plastic bag for the runner’s belongings, a number for the plastic bag, voucher for Pasta Party, 4 pins, a bag, technical t-shirt, fotomaraton.pl flyer and PKO Bank Polski pomotional materials.

Transport and accommodation

How can I get to the Half Marathon Office from the Bus/Train Station/airport?

The Half Marathon office is 300 meters away from the Railway Station and Bus Station and ca. 5 km away from the airport. There is a good local transport connection between the airport and the Half Marathon Office. For more information on transport go to section TRANSPORT.

Do runners get a discount on train transport?

No, there is no discount for the race participants on national train service.

Where are the nearest car parks to the start area?

We recommend car parks in the following locations:

Avenida Shopping Center (by Train Station) – 300 meters away from the Half Marathon Office

Konopnicka Street – 500 meters away from the Half Marathon Office

Does the Organizer provide free accommodation?

The Organizer provides all willing participants with free accommodation from 25/26 March 2017 at the sports halls at Chwiałkowskiego 34. Due to a limited space, only the first 600 runners, who thick “Free accommodation” box in the registration form, are accepted. The Organizer does not provide mattresses nor sleeping bags.

What to do if I didn’t thick “Free accommodation” box in my registration form and still would like to get it?

Log into your personal online account and thick the box “Free accommodation”. Keep in mind there is a limited space for 600 runners available at the sports halls. You can do it by 15 March 2017.

Does the Organizer provide free transport from the sports halls (free accommodation) to the start area?

Buses take the runners staying overnight at the sports halls to the start area on the day of the Half Marathon. The transport is free of charge. Departure times are announced a few days before the run.

Does the Organizer book hotel rooms for runners?

No, he doesn’t. Runners book chargeable accommodation by themselves. The list of recommended accommodation is available in section ACCOMMODATION.

Will I find a list of cheap accommodation on your website?

Yes, you will. Go to section ACCOMMODATION where you’ll find a list of cheap places to stay overnight. When you book a room, say a keyword “Half Marathon” to get a discount.

Start and the course

What time does the 10.Poznań Half Marathon start?

At 9:00.

Where is the Start line?

At Grunwaldzka Street.

Where are the cloakrooms for runners?

Cloakrooms are located near the Finish line at the Poznań International Fair.

Will I buy sports supplements on the day of the Half Marathon nearby the start area?

Yes, you will. The Sports Fair is open at 7:00 on the day of the race.

What is the time limit to complete the Half Marathon?

Time limit for the race completion is 3 hours. The Half Marathon route is closed for car traffic during the run and open successively behind the last contestant. Runners who do not finish the run until 12:30 are obliged to discontinue running and reach the Finish line by the bus marked “Half Marathon Finish”.

Where do I attach the chip?

Chip must be attached to a shoelace of your training shoe. If you attach it anywhere else, the chip won’t work and you won’t be classified.

Where do I attach the bib number?

Your bib number should be attached to your t-shirt with safety pins on your chest. You will find safety pins and the bib number in the envelope in your start package.

Do I have to run in a T-shirt from the start package?

No, you don’t have to. You can run in your own T-shirt.

How does the course look like?

All information on the half marathon course is in section COURSE.

How can I help an injured runner?

If you see a fellow runner felling over or laying down on the street, stop and ask, if he needs any help. If he does, stay with him and call for help. There is a medical help at all nutrition points and an ambulance going along the race route. There is information on the runner at the back of his start number, including contact details with his family. Don’t be afraid to give first aid, if needed!

What is at the nutrition points?

Water, sugar, chocolate, isotonic.

At what distance between each other are nutrition points located?

Nutrition points are located every 5 km or so.

Tables at the nutrition points are arranged as follows:

  • first one – water for sponges,
  • second one – drinking water
  • third one – sugar and chocolate
  • fourth one – drinking water
  • fifth one – isotonic beverage
  • sixth one – drinking water

What distances will be marked along the route?

Each kilometre of the route is marked.

Is it allowed to leave my own nutrition products at nutrition points?

No, it is not.

Will I get a massage along the route or in the finish area?

Yes, you will. Field massage points are located every 5 km along the route. Large massage area is arranged there in the hall at Poznań International Fair.

Finish and results

Where can I find race results?

  1. Unofficial results are posted on this website right after the race.
  2. Official results are posted on this website within 30 days, after receiving a report from the Commission against Doping in Sport.

Do runners get free meal and drinks after the race in the finish area?

Yes, they do. Upon presenting a bib number, the runner gets:

In the finish area: isotonic beverages, water, fruit, sugar, chocolate.

Outside the finish area: hot meal, beer, tea.

Will I have an opportunity to have a shower after the race?

Yes, you will. Runners may take a shower in the hall at Poznań International Fair.

Will I get my time result by text message?

Yes, you will. Everyone who gives his mobile number in the registration form gets his time result by text message.

Do I return a chip after the race?

Yes, you do. Chip needed to measure your time must be returned to the Organizer after the race. The chip returns point will be located in the finish zone.

Do I pay tax on the cash prize?

Yes, you do. Winners of cash prizes must pay tax in accordance with the tax law.

What is the procedure of handing over the cash prize?

In order to receive a cash prize into your bank account, you must fill in the necessary forms required by the Tax Office and send them to the Organizer’s within 30 days from the event’s finish date. Cash prizes are granted only into participants’ bank accounts via electronic funds transfer (they are not paid in cash) after receiving the minutes from the Commission against Doping in Sport.

Who is a pacemaker?

A pacemaker helps runners get their goal times, by leading them from start to finish (usually) at the same pace. The runners are divided into groups going for the following times: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20 and 2:30.

How do I recognize a pacemaker?

Pacemakers wear a characteristic colourful T-shirt and a balloon indicating the goal time.

Where is the Sports Fair located?

The ports Fair is located at the Poznań International Fair, ul.Grunwaldzka 14.

Do runners have an insurance guaranteed?

Each runner is insured against accidents during the race.

What are the prizes?

  1. General category women and men:
    • I-III position – money and cups
  2. Age cathegories women and men (net time):
    • I-III position – exemption from the entry fee in the 11. PKO Poznań Half Marathon 2018.
  3. All the runners who finish the run within the time limit of 3 hours are granted a medal.

I would like to share some comments on the race with you. Who should I contact?

We upload a questionnaire on our website a few days after the run. Write your suggestions in it. It’s the easiest way to share your comments with us. You can also send us an email on info@halfmarathon.poznan.pl. We read all your comments carefully to get to know your expectations. They help us improve the run every year. You can also send us an official complaint within 3 days since the day of the run.

Is the voucher for Pasta Party payable?

No. The fee is included in the registration fee.

Where and when is Pasta Party held?

Pasta Party is held on Saturday 25 March 2017 between 12:00 – 20:00 at Poznań International Fair.

Can the under age of 18 runners start in the 10. PKO Poznań Half Marathon?

No, they can’t. According to the Official Regulations, the 10. PKO Poznań Half Marathon may be attended only by runners who are 18 years old by 26 March 2017.

Are the medical check-ups required before the race?

No, they are not, but to take part in the half marathon, runners declare that they take part in the event on their own responsibility and thus bear all risks connected with participation in the event as well as are aware that taking part in half marathon is connected with physical effort and involves natural risks and accident threats, health hazards such as lesions and physical injuries (including death) as well as material damage or loss.

What is the gun time?

It is the time counted from the moment of the gun shot to the moment of crossing the finish line by a runner.

What is the net time?

It is the time counted from the moment of crossing the start line to the moment of crossing the finish line by a runner.

Do runners have bib numbers with names on them?

Yes, they do. Each runner has a bib number with his first name on it.

What is a chip?

Chip is an electronic devise that measures running time of a contestant. It is attached to the runner’s shoelace. It starts counting the time since the moment of crossing the Start line to the moment of crossing the Finish line by a runner. There are a few points along the route that register a runner’s time.
